Encrypt
A file or direct text becomes a GCRYPT V1 .gcrypt container.
GCRYPT is a native Rust application for encrypting and decrypting files, compressing files or folders, and generating passwords. No account, server, or network connection is required for application operations.
All features run locally and are available from the native GCRYPT interface.
A file or direct text becomes a GCRYPT V1 .gcrypt container.
GCRYPT automatically detects V1 and V2 formats and restores authenticated content.
Files and folders can be stored in a standard ZIP archive without encryption.
File or folder: Zstandard, then authenticated encryption inside a GCRYPT V2 container.
Local CSPRNG password generator with configurable character sets and theoretical entropy estimation.
No account, no server, no remote history, and no network connection required.
ENCRYPT produces a V1 container. The original name, size, and data are protected. The public technical header is authenticated with every record.
V2 adds Zstandard compression and folder support. For a folder, an internal TAR stream is fed directly into the compressed and then encrypted stream.
V0.1.0 packages are distributed with an external SHA-256 checksum. You can calculate the checksum locally and compare it with the value published alongside the official download.
Official packages include file icons and associations for Windows, macOS, and Linux. On Windows, the association can also be installed or removed from GCRYPT settings.
GCRYPT automatically follows the operating system session language: French for fr-* locales and English for all others. The language can be changed immediately in SETTINGS → Language.
No account is required. The GCRYPT website uses no analytics cookies, trackers, or user identifiers. The public counter stores only the global number of downloads, without recording the platform or visitor identity.
